This thing used to be an Ariel Atom, before Nissan hacked it apart to create this BladeGlider mule. It's got two regular-compound road tires roughly the size of those worn by a Super Beetle, spaced less than 2 feet apart. The seat is in the middle. In front of the car stretches a cone course.
I felt a little better when a Nissan engineer handed me a helmet. But then it was time to see if the BladeGlider narrow front track concept was the real deal, or if I was going to tumble Reliant Robin-style into a barrier.
It's not unusual to fear new and strange things, but here's why I came away not fearing the very strange BladeGlider: it's a goddamn riot to drive.
