What it's like to build a Lamborghini V12 by hand

The Lamborghini factory at Sant'Agata churns out just five of these 6.5-liter, 691 horsepower V12 engines per day. Each is a gargantuan six feet long, looking more like WWII aircraft or tank engines than streetable powerplants intended for the Aventador. When Lamborghini invited us to take a turn on the line and screw one together, there wasn't much deliberation.

The line might be modernized and efficient, but there's a lot of hand assembly involved. Come with us to Sant'Agata and see how it's done.
